Idea #2

The National Health Service

This is a fact that will shock some. "The National Health Service is too important to be left in the hands of Politicians!"

Take the NHS out of Politics.

Set up a Nationalised company NHS Ltd

This is another thing that shall shock Politicians. The NHS has to be governed NATIONALLY not locally. The Postcode lottery shall always be present with local governance… FACT!

What we need is a national standard for the NHS. There are standards for Business and Manufacturing so why not a standard for the NHS. A standard of care, A standard of treatment, A standard of Drugs used, A standard of cleanliness, A standard of Service.

I believe the NHS could cost less by getting rid of countless Senior and middle management. With a national standard you will not need so many managers.

With a national standard, levels of efficiency are set. You just need auditors to make assessments to ensure national standards are met

Now before a few faint hearts start declaring "privatisation" let me say the incorporation of NHS Ltd should include in its Articles of Association a clause saying it cannot be sold unless 95% of the POPULATION able to vote in the UK agree.

Let me make it perfectly clear. I do not believe profit has any place in health care.

Now I am going to cause a great uproar among those power hungry meddlers by saying, the NHS should be paid for directly from workers wages. The NHS should collect enough income in a 5-10 year period to break even. It should plan long term so not to get into financial difficulty.

PFI should be abolished in Hospital Building. NHS Ltd should be able to build Hospitals using its' own funds and not place the burden of future debt on future generations.

If the burden would be too great for workers to pay. Then things like the tax on cigarettes should be paid over and maybe the tax on alcohol as well. Funding should be automatic.

Now I am not saying this is another burden on workers pay packets but a complete re-think on government tax collection. It is another small burden on Employers, as they shall be paying direct to NHS LTD. I would expect less to come out of pay packets for tax/NI so workers would not end up with less.

I believe this would give us, eventually, a NHS we DESERVE. It would possibly take up to 10 years to achieve the necessary change, possibly 5 years to set the standard and possibly another 5 years to get from where we are to the new standard, a lot of hard work, but necessary.

One other thing I would like the NHS to set-up is a National Homes Service for the Elderly. This should have a national standard as well. The majority of people will not agree with this. I would like to say to everyone disagreeing with this idea, "Care for the elderly in this Country can be absolutely DISGUSTING!" I know having witnessed it myself. In a lot of homes caring for the elderly, Profit comes before care. The standards are poor with management grateful for anyone willing to work in their homes. Let me say here and now I think those responsible for ensuring high standards are clueless, A complete waste of space!
